CA (ON): “Happiness in Bloom” brought smiles to Yonge-Dundas Square

On Thursday, July 21, hundreds of Torontonians gathered at Yonge-Dundas Square to admire the beautiful floral haven pickOntario created.

“It was an unbelievable feeling to see people of all ages and various backgrounds come together to simply have fun, share some flowers and enjoy the perfect sunny weather,” said Jesseline Gough, Marketing Coordinator at pickOntario. “We continued our pay-it-forward idea and gave each person two flowers — one to brighten their day, and one to give to a friend, a colleague, or a total stranger.”

Behavioural studies prove that flowers make people happy and have a long-term effect on moods. pickOntario was certainly successful in providing this firsthand experience and recreating that wave of contagious smiles, admiration, and gratitude at such a simple gesture.

pickOntario took this event to a whole new level and gave Torontonians the full ‘Happiness in Bloom’ experience, which included:
  • A Flower Wall: A 10x10 Floral Art Installation made up of fresh Ontario flowers.
  • A Flower Tag Station: Where guests were invited to write a personalized message on the tag of the flower they gave away that same day.
  • A Flower Crown Bar: Where a flower expert was available to assist guests as they created their personalized flower crowns.
  • A Social Photo Print Station: A custom photo experience for participants to share online. Guests who posted their photos to Instagram or Twitter using #HappinessinBloom received an instant 4x6 printed copy of their image.
“This was a fantastic opportunity for Torontonians to take a break from their busy lives and join us in spreading happiness, while admiring the beauty of fresh, Ontario grown flowers,” added Jess. “Happiness in Bloom was created to make people smile, remind them how beautiful nature is, and increase awareness of Ontario grown flowers and potted plants, and we did just that.”
