Encounters and market potential at Flower Show Turkey

Despite the turbulent times that Turkey has been experiencing over the past few months, normal life has started again. From Thursday to Sunday, 24 to 27 November 2016, the Flower Show Turkey is being organised in Istanbul. It's a great place to bring buyers and growers together.

Major efforts are being made to strengthen the economy and make room for companies to invest. Royal FloraHolland has established a network through its activities in the past few years, from which our members and buyers benefit. It will also be participating in the Flower Show Turkey in Istanbul.

Encounters and market potential
The Royal FloraHolland House is the usual place for members and buyers to meet each other in an inspiring environment. Its design reflects the theme of 'Celebration'. 'High-end consumers' in the countries of southeastern Europe spend a lot for that purpose. The decoration of huge weddings or parties in hotels in vacation resorts has great potential.

The Royal FloraHolland House is arranged as a meeting place to form connections with the following market segments in Turkey:
  • High-end florist
  • Large-scale retail
The growth figures of these segments are rising and could be developed further given collaboration with and knowledge of the Dutch sector. The Flower Show in Istanbul and the Royal FloraHolland House offer our members and buyers a good opportunity to get to know the market better and establish contacts.

Holland Pavilion
Royal FloraHolland is part of the Holland Pavilion where, in collaboration with GREENN, we shall participate in the Flower Show for the second time. The Turkish Royal FloraHolland suppliers will likewise profile themselves in the Holland Pavilion as proud Royal FloraHolland suppliers.

Campaign in shopping mall
In one of the largest shopping malls in Turkey Istinye, a campaign will be started during the trade fair to show Turkish consumers the Dutch assortment. The visitors will be inspired and can be photographed in the setting of a splendid Dutch flower decoration and can share the photo on social media.

Business Relations Event
On Thursday, 26 November 2016, Royal FloraHolland is organising a business relations event at Paleis de Hollande (the Dutch Consulate in Istanbul). This event is also part of the Turkey Development programme to bring the Dutch sector and Turkish stakeholders together. 'Celebration' is its theme as well. A fashion show involving couturier Edwin Oudshoorn and L&M Flower Fashion will take care of the Flowerfull entourage. It forms a colourful, inspiring environment where the Dutch and Turkish sectors can meet.

If you are in Istanbul during the week of this trade fair and would like to participate in the business relations event, then please contact Customer Services for more information. Producing identification and being on the list of participants are mandatory security checks at the Consulate.

Royal FloraHolland 2020
As part of the FloraHolland 2020 strategy, Royal FloraHolland wants to create more sales of flowers and plants by strengthening existing markets and developing new ones. Research conducted in line with the country observation model revealed that the growing Turkish economy has potential in three aspects:
  • Good climate with the development of new production regions in Turkey and surrounding countries (Iran, Egypt, Kazakhstan).
  • Attractive local market (metropolitan area of Istanbul has 20 million inhabitants) with wealthy consumers.
  • Turkey can act as a hub and bridge to Asia, the Middle East and eastern Europe. In terms of religion, culture and trade treaties, Turkey is a centrepoint in the region. Combined with the government's ambitious aims, growing economy and investments from companies in the international sector, Turkey can also be considered a hub.
