US (MI): More focus on greenhouse cropping at Great Lakes Expo

This year for example, visiting growers also had the opportunity to learn more on berry production. It is not a secret that berry and strawberry cultivation in the United States and Canada have seen a boost over the last year and therefore the North American Strawberry Association (NASGA) and the North American Raspberry and Blackberry Association (NARBA) teamed up with the Great Lakes Expo to hold a Berry Conference with special educational sessions on both open field, high tunnel and greenhouse cultivation of berries.
Exhibitor A.M.A. Plastics sponsored the NASGA Conference with a special lecture from BVB Substrates’ Eric Boot. The Dutch strawberry specialist was available to answer questions on substrate choices for containerized strawberry production in tunnels and greenhouses.

The Great Lakes Expo offered a number of exhibitors from the greenhouse industry. Greenhouse constructors present at the show were Luiten Greenhouse Tech and Belucon from Kalamazoo, Michigan, as well as Rimol, VRE Systems and United Greenhouse Systems.

Next to this, a number of seed companies (Bejo, Takii, Enza, Johnny's, Clifton, Hazera, Harris, Seminis, Sakata, PanAmerican, Ball and Sakata) and a broad selection of other greenhouse-affiliated suppliers like BioBest, Certis, Jiffy, Hort Americas, Growers Supply, Koppert, Grimes, Gowan, Lambert Peat Moss, Eurodrip, Cummins, Plant products, Totalgrow, Netafim, Yara and Rivulis were present.
