NL: VDR Bouwgroep builds sustainable Deco Wraps distribution center

Deco Wraps is having a new distribution center built at Green Park Aalsmeer, The Netherlands. The American company has hired VDR Bouwgroep to realize this project and for guidance towards the BREEAM certification of the new construction. The ambition is a BREEAM**** (Excellent) certification.

Deco Wraps is a major international player in the field of innovative packaging materials for cut flowers and potted plants. Its own team designs products for each season. Deco Wraps’ headquarters is located in Miami. Besides in the US, the company has establishments in Colombia, Ecuador, China and Aalsmeer. Flower capital Aalsmeer is also familiar territory for VDR Bouwgroep. In the past the industrial premises construction company from Deventer already built distribution centers there for Dutch Flower Group, Blumex and OZ Export, among others.

The layout of the distribution center has been designed by Groenewout. The remainder of the building design is the work of architect Ronald Wieggers from Delta architectuur en bouwtechniek. VDR Bouwgroep is responsible for the engineering, the structural development and the realization of the construction. In total 4500 m2 of warehouse and 1500 m2 of office space is being built.

Construction has already begun. Deco Wraps’ new establishment will be operational this summer.
