What plant novelties to expect at IPM Essen 2017?

The 35th edition of the IPM Essen will take off tomorrow in Essen, Germany and will last till January 27. For many companies this exhibition is the perfect occasion to showcase their latest innovations in varieties, equipment and technologies and to launch new ones.

What to expect this year?
Also this year, many novelties and innovations can be expected. Below, we listed some new plant varieties that will be on display at the IPM Essen.

  • Interspecific Mix
With "Lady in Red", Brandkamd interspecific mixes range is now at nine. The Lady is the second tonal mix after "Pink Miracle". Composed of red Petunia, Calibrachoa and Verbena she is like all "Mix-It-Ups" a real sun worshiper. Proven quality of therefore
used own breeding lines ensures a good culture result. Check it out at Brandkamp's booth in Hall 2, booth 2C31.

  • Violas
PanAmerican Seed will expands its Sorbet XP Viola range. Now, they are fully available in a range of colours, and this year there are even more as they introduce Deep Orange, True Blue, Red Blotch, Blue Blotch Improved, Yellow Blotch Improved and 3 mixes. Plants cover the soil at flowering, with more blooms on every plant and less stretching. Take a look at these new varieties and their assortment in Hall 2 at booth B29.

  • Ocean primrose
Volmary introduces a new primroses at the IPM Essen; the Ocean Primrose 'Nautilus® Blue Vein'. It is a distinctive, its mid-sized blooms displaying a wonderful maritime colour palette in blue-white striped tones. The intensive yellow hue of the star-shaped eye will draw the attention with an additional dash of colour. Like the star primroses, Ocean primroses bloom primarily in February. See their products and these new versions at their booth in hall 2.0, booth 2A35.

  • Phalaenopsis
The Bremen based breeder and young plant provider BOCK presents a row of new Phalaenopsis selections. There are some new varieties at this year´s stand 2B11 such as Phalaenopsis “Ascanio” (pastel colored tigress), Phalaenopsis “Manon” (good contrast, lilac with a white lip), Phalaenopsis “King Coel” (a white King), Phalaenopsis “Shakira” (sunlight for the six to nine centimeter assortment). All varieties have been selected for a number of most important criteria such as multiple stems, big flowers, compact growth with an average plant height of 55 to 65 centimeter and well-shaped, not too long leaves and – last but not least – robustness in growth.   • Mini-cyclamen
Syngenta FloriPro Services® will present their new Mini-Cyclamen series SeeWhy®. The promise of worry-free production, together with more efficient planning and production, gives growers the potential to save time, money and effort. In addition, the simultaneous combination of uniformity, compatibility and earliness makes the SeeWhy® series the perfect match for any demand. Meet them in hall 1.0, booth 1C29.

  • Campanula
ADDENDA will introduce a new Campanula; ‘Intense Purple™’. Is a new hybrid, belonging to the portenschlagiana species. The typical characteristic of the Intense Purple™ is its intense dark purple colour, which is immediately very eye catching. In addition, it also has small, fine dark green leaves. The result is beautiful, spherical bloom development, covered with dark purple flowers. Take a look at this new variety in hall 12, booth12A40.3.

  • Green branch
Twelve Energy Societa Agricola will introduce the Smeralda Green Show. It is a bright green branch with no thorns, an is claimed to be an innovative and unique product in the flower-art scenario. It has an long vase-life thanks to the fact that it is an alive product, with green shoot and leaves on the top of the stem. Visit them in hall 4, booth 5B32.

  • Carex oshimensis
Fitzgerald Nurseries is adding a new Carex oshimensis to their EverColorTM range; the ‘Evercream’. It is suited to shade and full sun planting in garden borders. Besides that, Evercream has more rigid and shorter leaf blades than previous selections and this variety in particular looks set to become a reliable landscape plant for mass planting in shade, semi-shade and full sun. Take a look at this variety in hall 2, booth 2E18.

  • Intermediate F1 Cyclamen
The Merita is the new intermediate F1 Cyclamen of Varinova. The whole series has a compact shape with firm flower stems and a fine marbled leaf type. For production a pot size of 10.5-12 centimeter is the most optimal. Because of its uniform and compact growth Merita is easy to cultivate and to sell. For now Merita is, limited, only available in the colour Shine Red. Over the next few years Varinova will add more colours will be to their assortment. Check it out at their booth in hall 2, booth 2E19.
 
  • Potted chrysanthemums
The bi-coloured flowers of the Aduro variety are newcomers in the Belgian Mums collection of Gediflora. Aduro comes in the colours orange and violet. The bi-coloured flower is the most distinctive feature of the Aduro variety. The flowers open extremely slowly, which guarantees a much longer shelf life.

  • Calluna
Heidezüchtung Kramer presents the new Calluna Gardengirls - Compact Line - the naturally produced, compact Calluna series for the first time at the IPM Essen. Kramers best Trio-Girls combinations are: Sunset Line: The Gardengirls - assortment without buds, but foliage colours in the national colours of Germany - Black/ Red/ Gold.Visit them in hall 2, booth 2A11.

National exhibition booths
The trade fair will be held at the Messe Essen in Essen, Germany, from January 24-27 2017. There is no doubt that the IPM Essen has become the most important event for European horticulture and is a very international oriented. More than 1,600 exhibitors from around 50 nations will be exhibiting at the show. National participation booths from all over the world will jointly present their products at IPM Essen 2017. The following countries have a National participation booth: Belgium, Denmark, France, Great Britain, India, Israel, Japan, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Taiwan, USA. On additional joint participation booths, exhibitors from China, Costa Rica, the Netherlands, Portugal, South Korea, Turkey and Hungary will present their products for the international green sector.
