Show Your Colours Award for Match & Moss Menthol

On Thursday 26 January 2017, the Mentha requienii Match & Moss Menthol of Van Son & Koot from Kaatsheuvel has been awarded the Show Your Colours Award IPM 2017 during the trade fair IPM 2017 in Essen (Germany).

“The Match & Moss Menthol is a beautiful combination of emotion, experience and fragrance and it is a special plant”, according to the professional jury, which awarded the prize in combination with the public vote. The prize was handed to Thomas Staats by jury chairman Oliver P. Kuhrt in the BIZZ Holland stand.

Van Son & Koot sees the award as a recognition of their market approach. “This prize is a crown on the work of our PR and marketing department. We increasingly concentrate on experience and emotion, and this plant is a very good example. The prize motivates us to continue in this innovating way," said Sales Manager Jeroen van Dongen.

Joint second place
The joint second place was for Salix gracilistyla ‘Mt. Aso', submitted by Joh. Stolwijk & Söhne from Boskoop and Hydrangea macrophylla Three Sisters submitted by De Jong Plant B.V. from Boskoop. The other plants nominated were Campanula Ambella Intense Purple, Clematis ‘Taiga’, Eryngium ebracteatum, Ilex meserveae ‘Gentle’ PBR (Smoothie), Picea abies `Little Santa´, Rosa in special packaging, Staudenmix and Waterplants, Carnivorplants, Cactus and Vegetable seeds in concept.

Judging
Voting online was already possible prior to the trade fair on the websites of IPM Essen and BIZZ Communications. Apart from that, the nominated plants and concepts were exhibited at two locations during the trade fair. In both locations, the visitors could vote for their favourite plant/concept with the use of special coins until Thursday morning. A professional jury consisting of Monique van Weerdenburg, Key Account Manager Royal Flora Holland, and Board Member of the Stichting Vakbeurs voor de Boomkwekerij, Sytse Berends from Blunt Communicatieadvies, Oliver Mathys of “I green you”, Andreas Henk, trade journalist Gabot – Das Gartenbau Portal, Oliver P. Kuhrt, Messe Essen and Amanda Kersten of De Fruithof (mystery member), judged the submitted plants/concepts on Thursday afternoon. The jury's decision, combined with the votes of the poll and the coins, resulted in Mentha requienii Match & Moss Menthol winning the Show Your Colours Award IPM 2017.

The Show Your Colours Award IPM 2017 is a cooperation between trade fair organisation IPM and BIZZ Communications.
