UK: Herbaceous perennial winter meeting

The Herbaceous Perennial Technical Discussion Group winter meeting this year will feature presentations on a mixture of new AHDB Horticulture projects and those that are coming to a conclusion, nursery costings software and novel approaches to pest and weed control.

New projects are currently examining the application and management of biopesticides for efficacy and reliability and providing assistance with the transition to responsibly sourced growing media use. Concluding projects are providing a better insight into the control of aquilegia downy mildew and leaf and bud nematodes.

The meeting will also revisit the ProCost software, explore novel methods of applying nematodes for vine weevil control and bring together experiences of using sodium bicarbonate for liverwort control. The event will culminate with a summary of the planned variety trials at Wisley for 2017.
