Asian flower market is flourishing for Valentine’s Day

It's February and this means flowers! With Valentine's Day around the corner, the flower traders usually boost up the market and flower prices double or even triple in price. In many countries, the most demanded flowers are the imported roses as the purchasers want to give premium-grade-flowers to their loved ones during this romantic occasion.

When talking about flower markets, the first destination in people’s mind is Europe where the climate and technologies are known to be suitable for growing flowers. However, the research shows another finding. It is Asia that has market share more than one billion USD standing in the top position in the world’s flower markets. The central hubs are Bangkok and Singapore where flower products are distributed throughout the world. Moreover, Northwest Asia is the route where products will be swiftly delivered to Australia and New Zealand.

The main factor for good quality and good sales price in the Thai flower market is the efficient water management. That is because the climate, the geography, and the season are quite unpredictable nowadays; therefore, adopting new technologies will facilitate farmers, increase the productivity, reduce the costs, and manage the risks effectively. One of the crucial technologies is ‘Drip irrigation’ which two companies will participate and introduce their products in the International Tradeshow for Horticultural & Floricultural Production and Processing Technology or the 5th ‘Horti ASIA’ to be held during March 15 – 17, 2017 at BITEC Bangna, Bangkok.

Mr. Porrameth Sompong, Marketing Manager of Netafim Thailand Co.Ltd., a company for drip irrigation from Israel: "Nowadays the drip irrigation market has grown continually following the modern farming trend that has been receiving high interest from farmers and the new generation who has turned to green businesses as a hobby but then earned more than expected. The main product of Netafim to be shown in the Horti ASIA is Streamline Plus, drip pipe, which is the innovation that will reduce the costs because once it is set up, it will water the plantation for the whole season. The drip pipe is produced with flexible-but-strong material, UV protection coated, evenly dripping holes for even water distribution, smaller filter to reduce the risk of damage when folded. And last but not least, there are lines to clearly mark between dripping holes to ease the positioning over the plants. This product has just recently been launched this year and Netafim already prepares special promotion for our visitors at the booth in Horti ASIA this year.”
Apart from that this year, Jebsen & Jessen Technology (T) LTD., the importer and distributor for high technology for water management has already confirmed to participate in the exhibition for the first time and ready to bring the water management products for golf courses and driving ranges along with other product lines."

Mr. Henrik Friis, Regional Director Turf & Irrigation, Jebsen & Jessen Technology (T) Ltd.: “The Company has mainly been in the golf and tourism industry, but this year we have the new policy to pave our way into the agricultural industry because agricultural markets are growing continually. After having been in business in Thailand for over 25 years, we see that the agricultural business is up to the international level due to the higher food demand to serve the growing world’s population; therefore, we see opportunities to further our businesses and that is why we start to present our agricultural products more.
In the same plantation, the modern farmers will look for new technologies to control the production and farm planting in order to give stable productivity with no concern over the unstable climate. We offer technologies from various brands to suit your businesses such as Toro, Electra, and Spectrum etc.
In this connection, we would like to welcome visitors and international businessmen to see our new innovation and talk to our specialists in order to make the best worth for your investment.”

These are just few of the leading companies to be attending Horti ASIA, the International Tradeshow for Horticultural & Floricultural Production and Processing Technology, to be held from March 15th to 17th, 2017 at Hall 105 BITEC Bangna, Bangkok. There are also AGRITECHNICA ASIA 2017, the exhibition for technologies and innovation for agricultural machines, and VIV Asia 2017, the largest exhibition for livestock technologies in Asia. The 3 exhibitions will be held at the same time; therefore, we would like to invite business persons, buyers, farmers, as well as students and the general public to visit Horti-ASIA.
