Helix Australia visits growers in South Africa

Helix Australia director Adrian Parsons recently visited licensed growers Arnelia and Flora United (South Africa) to view and assess the production of their varieties in South Africa.

“I was really impressed by the standard of operations at both farms and the Waxflower crops are showing excellent growth and quality for the forthcoming 2017 season,” said Parsons.

“The similarities in soils and landscape with the Grampians region in Australia was amazing.”

Parsons continued, “We currently have 8 Helix varieties under commercial production in South Africa and trials continue on another 6 new Helix varieties to assess their growth rates and suitability for this region.”

Arnelia and Flora United are both active participants in the Future Fynbos breeding programmes which aims to breed and develop unique Fynbos varieties for the global cut flower market.
