Orchids in Colombia without VAT

On Thursday, February 9th, as a result of various legal discussions led by the Association of Colombian Nurseries and Ornamental Growers (Colviveros), the government agency responsible for Taxes and Customs in Colombia (DIAN) has confirmed that the orchids were covered with the exclusion of VAT on live plants.

Jairo Cadavid, president of Colviveros, says the Association seeks to promote the consumption of ornamental plants in the local market, consider the export path, and generate more formal employment in the Colombian countryside. The number of nurseries and ornamental producers is estimated at 5,000 in Colombia, a country blessed with different micro-climates and thermal floors for the production of plants, flowers and foliage.
