With rainwater in a silo or basin, possibly supplemented with ditch water, it's not always known which (harmful) organisms it contains. To kill them, a grower often adds chlorine or hydrogen peroxide to the water. However, this eliminates not only the harmful bacteria, the good ones are also killed. Kornet: "By adding our product instead of chlorine or hydrogen peroxide, you get a biological balance in the water. The crops benefit from this and there is less algae growth in the water." The product is not pathogenic or harmful to humans, plants or animals.
Organic hydrocarbons
The bacteria present in the product live off organic hydrocarbons. These hydrocarbons use the bacteria to grow. This growth produces enzymes that clean the water and remove and reduce biofilm in the pipes, ensuring that the water is in optimum shape. In addition, the bacteria settle on the walls of the storage tanks or pipes, so that organic substances have no chance of attaching themselves.
Water treatment
The microbiological product is available in both liquid and tablet form. "The bacteria are in their spore phase, a phase for surviving unfavourable conditions, which increases their shelf life. After pouring or dissolving the product in water, they come to life as it were and multiply. This makes the water resilient", says Kornet.
