Turkey: Beypazari municipality uses own grown flowers and plants to decorate green areas

Beypazari town municipality is one of the rare municipalities in Turkey which grows all of its flowers and plants to use in green area decorations. The town is located in Ankara, capital of Turkey.

The greenhouses owned and managed by the municipality already started the production for winter flowers and planted around 100,000 flowers.
Current setup has an annual production capacity of 250,000 flowers whereas the municipality is about to finalize an additional modern greenhouse with fully automated system in an area of 20,000 square feet to increase its production capacity to 1 million flowers.

The goal for the municipality with the additional production is to sell these flowers to other municipalities and to create a revenue stream for the municipality. Another benefit of these greenhouses is to set an example for the local growers, to introduce them to different product varieties and to demonstrate them production methods which are cost efficient.
