Bernardo Greeve, KG Greenhouses:

"Nine hectares is a big project, also by British standards"

A nice project in Great Britain for KG Greenhouses. Over the coming months, a 9 hectare greenhouse will arise in Spalding. It’s the third time the Dutch company builds for their client Neame Lea, a British grower of a wide range of potted plants and bedding plants.

"Nine hectares is a big project, also by British standards", Bernardo Greeve says. “The special thing about this greenhouse is it will come with a huge wood chip boiler. So we’re installing an 8 MW biomass boiler – the biggest in England.”

Construction of the new greenhouse will take place on a completely new location. "That comes with the advantage of having a lot of options while making the design. On the other hand, there’s nothing to start from, no infrastructure, no loading docks or hard standing areas. So we’re starting from scratch."

KG Greenhouses is responsible for the full turn-key project. The greenhouse will be equipped with ebb and flow cultivation tables complete with automation, so the grower can get started with the cultivation right away.

“At the moment, we’re working on the foundation. The ground pipes for heat and water are also being installed as we speak,” Bernardo says.

KG Greenhouses regularly posts videos with construction updates, so every stage of this special project can be followed.
