German Nursery Federation withdraws from German Horticultural Association

The German Nursery Federation (Bund deutscher Baumschulen, BdB) will be withdrawing from the German Horticultural Association (Zentralverband Gartenbau, ZVG) at the end of 2018. So how have the regional associations reacted? Specialist editor Gabriele Friedrich made enquiries.

What will be the response of the German Horticultural Association to the German Nursery Federation’s withdrawal? And what changes will there be at state level and in the day-to-day work of the ZVG? From Bavaria we received the following response:

“The board and state delegate assembly of the Bavarian Nursery Association (Bayerischer Gärtnerei-Verband, BVG) were very saddened to hear of the withdrawal of the German Nursery Federation. This decision did not come as a complete surprise, with the committees of the BGV discussing the withdrawal on several occasions following the decision in principle reached by the BdB in Goslar in January. While there is a desire to continue cooperation at state level if possible, some reorganisation will be required. The BdB Bavaria state association has hitherto been a member of the Bavarian Nursery Association.”
