Turkey: Clustering production of plants and flowers

The efforts toward clustering flower and plant growers continue with a meeting in Ankara, where the example of Yalova, a city in northwestern Turkey, is analyzed. Yalova, a very small city located in close proximity to Istanbul, is known for its plant production.

Growers Association President Ahmet Dundar: “We are trying to solve the land problem of growers in Ankara, hopefully we will be able to present a solution soon. We will meet with the Chamber of Commerce in Ankara and ask them to identify and inform us about the available land suitable for flower and plant production in the area.

We have also set standards about our industry after cooperating with the Turkey Standards Institute. This represents an important step in becoming a member of the European Nurserystock Association (ENA).

We are also trying to set up a digital portal as a marketing platform for SUSBIR growers, where they can showcase and sell their products to municipalities without any intermediaries. A similar digital sales channel is operated worldwide by Royal FloraHolland and they have informed us about their plans to implement this digital sales system in Turkey. This system of Royal FloraHolland will soon be explained to our growers in detail.”
