“A greenhouse so clean, you can perform a surgery in it”

Every now and then greenhouses have to be disinfected. During crop rotation, greenhouses are emptied and companies come in to disinfect the greenhouse. “Hygiene is very important”, says John Pol of Heartnut Grove. “By disinfecting the greenhouse we get rid of bacteria and viruses, giving the grower a clean start for the next cultivation.”

Since a year ago, Heartnut Grove has been disinfecting greenhouses using their new product, Anolyte. “It is locally manufactured, made of water and salt, and processed in such a way that it cleans so well, you can perform a surgery in the greenhouse”, John laughs.

“The active ingredient is hypochlorous acid. This allows you to get rid of the biofilm in pipes and tanks. Disinfecting the irrigation water reduces stress for the plant. That results in better quality crops and a higher yield.”

Heartnut Grove specializes in irrigation, livestock watering systems and crop protection. At the Canadian Greenhouse Conference they will present Anolyte next to their other products. The Canadian company supplies to Canada, but also sees opportunities in the United States.

Heartnut Grove's Booth number at the Canadian Greenhouse Conference is #204
