Qatar Airways voted Global Cargo Airline of the Year
The cargo carrier was nominated and voted the Global Cargo Airline of the Year award by STAT Times readers via online voting prior to the awards announcement. Qatar Airways Cargo made the cut with the highest reader votes among the top five nominees in this award category.
Commenting on this achievement, Qatar Airways Chief Officer Cargo, Mr. Ulrich Ogiermann said: “The ‘Three Rs’ approach - which stands for rates, reliability and relationship - is at the very heart of our business. We are grateful and thankful to our customers who place their trust in our brand and services. Having started off with three freighters in 2003, we have come a long way to reach the number three position on IATA’s international FTK (freight tonne kilometres) ranking today. This award goes out to each and every employee at Qatar Airways Cargo, who strives to ensure we live up to our ‘customer first and service excellence’ motto.”

Air Cargo Africa
The fourth edition of Air Cargo Africa 2017 ended on a high note, reports Logistics Update Africa. The second shippers’ forum for Flower & Perishables was hosted by Saudia Cargo. The panelists were Conrad Archer, country MD of Panalpina Airflo Kenya; Jane Ngige CEO of Kenya Flower Council; David Beecham, senior manager cargo products of Qatar Airways Cargo, Dirk Hanekom CEO of Agri All Africa, Stanley Winterbach, MD, Agri All Africa Nigeria and moderated by Joseph Notter VP Operations of Saudia Cargo.
The forum was attended by over 90 delegates from the shippers and forwarders community where the focus was on flowers, fruits and vegetables – key export commodities from the African continent, the transportation of which demands specific expertise. The panelists also discussed perishables shippers require logistics partners that can ensure access to capacity, cool facilities in as many steps of transport as feasible and affordable, and the ability to move goods swiftly and on time. Another growing demand is for end-to-end service.
