Xylella found in Belgium

In Belgium Xylella fastidiosa is discovered for the first time. According to the AVBS, the association for Flemish floriculture, it was a detection in a batch of olive trees from Spain. These showed suspicious symptoms. Laboratory research showed that the plants were infected. The infected plants have been destroyed.

The supplier decided to stop trading in olive trees immediately and to immediately destroy all the olive trees they had in stock, to avoid any risk of further spread of Xylella fastidiosa.
