Founded in 1946, Benfried has a long history and extensive experience when it comes to serving the horticultural sector. Both domestically and internationally, the company supplies quality products to greenhouse growers of all sorts. Besides vegetable and flower producers, also potted and bedding plant growers and (soft-) fruit producers are finding their way to Benfried as their source for a wide range of materials needed to reach the best result. These products can be divided in four categories: consumables, technical equipment/irrigation, fertilizers/chemicals and biological control as well as substrates including Benfried's own line of rock mineral wool under the name of Multigrow.
With a growing population and need for quality products, the demand of growers around the world for these products has risen. The business has grown and in order to sustain this, Benfried has come to a growth strategy which includes the extension of its facilities in Den Hoorn in the Netherlands. Being the headquarters of the company since the early eighties it could do with such a renovation and expansion. Moreover because the former logistics centre had to make way for a new road, being a business loop of the A4 highway which runs from Amsterdam via Den Haag to Rotterdam.
Based at the doorstep to the Westland and now with even better access to the port of Rotterdam, this expansion fits the needs of the company, but includes state of the art loading capabilities and smart systems to run the logistic process.
Besides the bricks it has always been the people of Benfried that make all the difference to the customers. In a somewhat "old school" approach the company has product and growth specialists who stand with both feet in the soil and serve any customer to reach the "optimal growth". Export specialists who speak the language of the grower can make anyone feel at home at the renewed Benfried.
