The German plant breeder and producer Kientzler with its subsidiary company Innovaplant Germany which is active in breeding, product development and production opened a new laboratory at their modern production facility in Gensingen, Germany.
Kientzler/Innovaplant is known for their innovation in new ornamental products and distribution of pathogen-indexed starter material throughout the world. They are part of the Proven Winners network and have activities in all major markets worldwide.

The process of creating virus- and bacteria- indexed material starts in Gensingen. For more than 20 years Kientzler has been running two tissue culture laboratories at this location. To be capable to meet the demand and increased capacity the older lab has been closed and replaced by a new one. On an area of 600 m², which is double the size of the former laboratory, all relevant steps to produce tissue culture plants are carried out. Currently 18 people are working in the lab. With the greater space and modern equipment the company is able to triple their production capacity. The main tasks are initiation, maintenance and production of virus and bacteria indexed plant material. Further key technologies are the use of thermo- and chemotherapy and biotechnology to support the breeding work.
Currently more than 7,000 different varieties are produced in tissue culture, making Innovaplant is one of the biggest laboratories worldwide in terms of the number of genera managed in tissue culture.
Innovaplant offers all relevant tissue culture activities as services to the industry. Many independent breeders and producers of ornamental annuals and perennials are using the company for their own material supply or as a backup of their plant material. With its new laboratory and a highly increased capacity Innovaplant is capable of meeting the increased demand for their product and services in the future.
