Poinsettia growers check out Selecta varieties in Netherlands and Denmark

This year, Selecta One’s Magic Stars tours in Holland and Denmark were held on Tuesday 13th of November.

In Holland over 100 interested people took part. The visitors were not only Dutch growers, but also growers from Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Russia, Japan and South Korea who made the journey to the Netherlands. The first stop of the tour was the nursery Stals in Ell, that won the 2018 Award of best business in the council of Leudal. The company Stals grows Poinsettia in 13 cm pots, mostly for the UK market. After a welcome speech by Maurice Stals, the company Koppert explained biological growing of Poinsettia. Furthermore, the company Intergeen talked about the British market and the possible consequences of the Brexit. The visitors had also the opportunity to see the greenhouses and got a guided tour by Maurice Stals.

At the nursery Van Vegchel in Horst the tour continued. The visitors could experience how the company produces the Poinsettia series Christmas Feelings in 10.5 cm pots and Nico van Vegchel answered questions.

Finally, the nursery Gevers Planten gave the visitors an insight into their automation. The companies Iso Group, TTA and Martin Stolze explained how they implemented their knowledge of automation into the greenhouse of Handelskwekerij Gevers Planten. Alex Gevers talked about all there is to see at the nursery. Of course, the focus was here also on the Magic Stars. The well-known series Christmas Feelings and Christmas Beauty were shining next to the new varieties like Christmas Break.

The Magic Stars event in Denmark took place at FloriPartner. Besides an extensive variety show of the Poinsettia assortment, Selecta provided customers with a lot of technical information. The visitors got the chance to learn all there is to know about their Poinsettia series, with an interesting programme and inspiring conversations with the team and the FloriPartner employees.
