Dutch investors explore opportunities in Rwanda

On March 01, 2017, a Dutch delegation led by Marjolijn Sonnema, the Vice Minister of Agriculture – Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Netherlands visited the National Agricultural Export Development Board as a part of their two-day visit to Rwanda that aims at exploring potential agricultural investment opportunities.

Most of their mission objectives are oriented to possible areas of collaboration between the Netherlands and Rwanda in the horticulture sector through The Dutch Topteam Horticulture and Starting Materials sector, which seeks for solutions that contribute to food safety and security, quality, health and prudent management of raw materials, the environment and biodiversity.

The Netherlands has expertise in the area of extraction from plant materials which can provide opportunities for innovation and business development in the Rwanda horticulture sector. Once this cooperation is approved, it is expected also, that the cool chain management will be developed to reduce the losses still existing in post harvest systems.
