Dutch carnation growers Martin Zwinkels, Nieuwland merge as Divine Flowers

As of April 6, 2017 Carnation Nursery Martin Zwinkels and Carnation Nursery Nieuwland will join forces under the name Divine Flowers. Focus for this cooperation is combined sales, both by auction well as in day trading.

Dianthus is the Latin name for carnation. The name Dianthus comes from the words Dios meaning god and Anthos, meaning flower. God’s Flower. Translated into English it becomes Divine Flowers. The name was selected from about two hundred entries for a contest which was organized through Facebook. The winning entry was rewarded with a dinner for two.

Saying goodbye to a name that already exists in the market for many years, is not easily done. Carnation Nursery Martin Zwinkels has been around for more than 50 years and carnation Nursery Nieuwland about 15 years. "My father gave his name to the company," says Martin Zwinkels jr. "I liked that I could continue under his name, but now it is time for a new chapter."

"In this way we make it clear that we want to approach the sales in a new way.
We grow new and distinctive products and together we are the best place for a wide range of Dutch carnations" according to Arnoud Vooijs, responsible for the sales of Divine Flowers.

"On Thursday, April 6th we will open our doors for customers of Divine Flowers. After that the cooperation under the new name will be launched officially."
