NL: Succulents breathe new life into old greenhouse
Innovative name-brand products
“Our succulents are propagated and developed at our location in Spain and arrive to us as half-grown plants. Therefore, we don’t have to worry about any of the growing process and are able to spend more time on other businesses”. And by other businesses, Dick means focusing on the end-consumer: florists and floral designers.
By developing innovative name-brand products, they try to serve this target group as best they can. The renowned ‘Wincx’ is currently their most successful brand. This colourful mix of cut Echeveria, Aloë and Haworthia is suitable for multiple jobs. Their slogan ‘Created for creators’ speaks for itself. ‘Mecx’ is their range of succulents on stick, which is ideal for bouquets.
Overnight in the bathroom
“It’s a solid, reliable product just like our greenhouse,” says Dick with a wink, “it simply doesn’t need any modern gadgets.” Echeveria is great to last even without their roots: it derives most of its nutrition from air. “If you have a few leftover in the shop looking a bit tired, just leave them overnight in the bathroom. The damp from a shower is enough to revive them!”
Linked
Thanks to a VMP-link, the complete range of Wincx and Mecx is available through FleuraMetz. Dick is very happy with the collaboration and notices an increased number of boxes going out to creative florists. “Our focus is currently aimed at the above but if we keep developing at the same speed, that new greenhouse will be here in no time!” he says with a boyish smile.
