Helix Australia exchanges Waxflower know-how in Italy

Helix Australia promotes its company vision as a breeding, licensing and marketing company of Chamaelaucium sp. (Waxflower). In addition to its Australian based breeding programmes, Helix Australia has also forged a global network of licensed growers in Australia, South Africa, Israel, USA, Germany and Italy.

The global network of Helix Australia licensed growers has been selected for their geographical and climatic location and their capacity to ensure Helix varieties of Waxflower are available all year round to service both the cut flower and landscape/pot sectors of the industry.

Collaboration across the Helix Australia global grower network is very strong and recently Hans Hertash, Managing Director of Arnelia Farms South Africa visited with Luca Quilici, Export Sales Manager, Flora Toscana (Italy) to compare notes on both the growing and marketing of Helix Australia Waxflower hybrids in their respective target markets.

In addition to their joint licensee status with Helix Australia, both Arnelia Farms and Flora Toscana are also exclusive grower licensees for Proteaflora – an Australian based grower and breeder of Protea, Serruria, Leucospermum and Leucadendron.

Adrian Parsons, Managing Director Helix Australia said the open and sharing attitude across its grower networks has added another layer of grower expertise to their model, which helps all parties improve and grow their business.

“It makes no sense to try and reinvent the wheel when our licensed partners have often already encountered and solved problems relating to propagation, soil media, managing mother stock and developing innovative marketing programmes,” said Parsons.

Luca Quilici said it was a pleasure to recently host Hans Hertash and the technical staff of Arnelia Farms where they were able to visit 6 Italian farms that were growing the product ranges of both Helix Australia and Proteaflora.

“The technical staff of Flora Toscana were able to glean a lot of knowledge from Hans and his team and the exchange of ideas in relation to the growing of Waxflower and Proteas can only benefit out respective businesses,” said Quilici.
