Netherlands: SK Roses expands
In May 2017, SK Roses will start with the construction of a new rose nursery. For some time SK Roses had been looking for a suitable location, which was at last found at the Noordlierweg in De Lier. "A great location, close to FloraHolland and centrally located between the two companies," says Tom Koene.
The family business, led by young entrepreneurs Marc, Bas and Tom Koene, grows the white Avalanche at two locations in the Westland. They thought it important to remain in the Westland and now are pleased to have found a good location.

Construction starts in May
The expansion is primarily intended to continue to meet market demand, so that the popular white Avalanche rose always will be available for the consumer. The first roses are to be planted in December 2017. Construction will start mid-May.
"It will be an ultramodern nursery, built for Next Generation Growing and equipped with the most modern and sustainable technologies," Tom said.
Future
The expansion also shows that SK Roses is convinced that growing roses in the Netherlands has a future. As Marc Koene last year indicated in a local TV program: through progressive sustainability Dutch growers are able to compete again with the colleagues in Africa.
