Earley showcasing award-winning variety at HTA National Plant Show 2017

High expectations for Penstemon series in the UK

Introduced to support the growing popularity of perennials, the award-winning Penstemon Pentastic will be the main feature on the Earley Ornamentals’ stand at the HTA National Plant Show 2017. This follows the announcement that Earley will be one of the selected UK producers for this product.

The already comprehensive Earley Penstemon range has been extended to include the new, eyecatching series Penstemon Pentastic. Pentastic is available in three vivid colours: Pink, Rose and Red. With large, dense flowers and a frost hardy broad leaf, it grows to a height of 30cm and is suitable for patio pots and the herbaceous border.

Pentastic requires no extra pinching, spacing or PGRS. It is also a particularly good option for retailers looking to extend summer sales and for end-customers wanting plants that will flower into the autumn months, with the flowers re-blooming a few weeks later with pruning.

Bred in the UK by Fred Yates, Pentastic is disease tolerant, has a naturally compact habit and is selfbranching with short flower spikes.

Commenting on the new addition to Earley’s range, managing director, Simon Earley said: “This introduction has been in the pipeline for some time and we were delighted to hear that Pentastic is already an award winner, it’s certainly a new favourite here at Earley and we believe a great commercial option for our customers.

“As a UK independent, we’re always keen to nurture UK-bred choices and are looking forward to showing it at the 2017 HTA show – please do come and take a look!

“We’ve definitely seen a growth in interest in perennials and have expanded our range accordingly, also introducing a dedicated Perennial catalogue this year, which is in addition to the main Earley Ornamentals 2017-18 catalogue.”
