NL: Sally van der Horst celebrates 25 years at FleuroSelect

Sally van der Horst has been with FleuroSelect for 25 years. At Beachclub O, on a Dutch beach at Noordwijk, she was treated to a surprise party, where colleagues and good friends were present. She was also invited to baptize a Pelargonium, from Florensis & P. van der Haak: the Sally.

She had no idea (or she's really good at acting)

FleuroSelect has been in existence for 47 years, but mainly in the last few years has had a solid foothold in the market. The organisation, existing thanks to the grace of participating breeders, by testing new varieties, brings them to the attention of as wide an audience as possible, and annually awards the well-known bronze, silver and gold medals.

Sally proudly shows ... the Sally!

In a short presentation, the 25-year Sally-with-FleuroSelect history was revealed. In addition to the many memories (25 years ago, the office looked like a 'brothel'), inside jokes (after five years of employment, Sally was nominated ‘employee of the year’ out of three employees) and vigorously praised (Sally is the stable factor within FleuroSelect and of course the dearest nicest colleague of the whole world), he especially emphasized her merits. "About five years ago it looked very different," according to Vice-President Jean-François Ignasse. "FleuroSelect did not amount to much. Thanks to the current team, and thanks to Sally, the club is fully in bloom."

Sally counts herself very happy. "Our industry is about people and flowers, the two elements it's all about," she said. "We are lucky to work in this industry."

Colleague Ann reveals the Sally to Sally

The surprise party was organized by colleague Ann Jennen. The colorful pelargonium plant is, not quite coincidental, bred by Florensis (whose director Herman Hamer, is also chairman of FleuroSelect).
