In order to maintain and improve our service to our customers we are looking for an exceptional person to fill the role of Quality Assurance Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and assist in the continued expansion of the business.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring quality systems are in place and functional to assist the safe and effective delivery of produce to customers.  Specifically the Quality Assurance Manager will manage, develop, implement and review the quality policies and procedures in line with the organisationís goals and business plans and all customerís quality regulations.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and negotiation skills in order to build and maintain strong lasting relationships.  Given the extent of your responsibilities youíll also need to work well within a team environment in order to be successful within this challenging and rewarding role. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the quality and management systems are in place and operational for organisation wide compliance and quality requirements
  • Maintain and further develop existing quality systems
  • Manage internal and external audit preparation and supervision as well as annual reviews
  • Liaise with technical, production and operational staff and management to ensure maximum quality outputs
  • Work with our community of growers to ensure they meet QA and compliance requirements of the business
  • Review corrective actions register and business continuity plan and update accordingly
Key Requirements:
  • Must have a strong knowledge of HACCP, and other food safety legislation
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to work autonomously
  • Solid experience within a food production environment
  • Confidence and initiative to make quality assessments and implement changes accordingly
  • Work Health and Safety exposure
In order to be successful in this position you will possess an in depth understanding of quality management systems and processes.  It is essential that you have a solid understanding of the horticultural industry.

Position Title: Quality Assurance (QA) Manager

Direct Relationships: Administration and Finance staff, Packing shed staff,  growers and customers

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring quality systems are in place and functional to assist the safe and effective delivery of produce to customers. 

Specifically, the Quality Assurance Manager will manage, develop, implement and review the quality policies and procedures in line with the organisationís goals and business plans and all customerís quality regulations. 

Represent the company on all other matters relating to compliance, including but not limited to, Safework SA, Health and Safety Rep and any other government regulations that are required from time to time. 

Drive compliance through our grower group by using our internally developed Field Liaison software.
 
Key Results Area:
Operational Management
  • Ensure that quality and management systems are in place and operational for organisation wide compliance and quality requirements including the following;
  • Review approved suppliers and ensure certificates of currency are up to date
  • Work with external suppliers to ensure they meet QA requirements
  • Assist in policy and procedure development
  • Manage training registers and conduct gap analysis
  • Ensure staff training is completed
  • Ensure testing schedules are adhered to (Water testing, MRLís etc)
  • Manage and coordinate quality equipment calibrations and records
  • Review corrective actions register
  • Review business continuity plan and update accordingly
  • Review crisis management policy
  • Ensure internal QA audits are conducted
  • Manage external QA audit and subsequent actions
  • Attend management meetings and present on QA matters
  • Conduct monthly inspections (including hygiene, packing tools register, glass register, cleaning)
  • Conduct annual reviews where applicable (including vermin control, labeling requirements, product tares)
  • Manage and implement the mock recall process annually
  • Maintain induction records, and signature register for new employees
  • Assist in ensuring all required growers have Horticulture Produce Agreements reviewed annually
  • Ensure compliance for pre-shipment and retentions
  • Review customer specification and contractual requirements and ensure compliance (eg.  Woolworths, Coles)
  • Maintain Interstate Certification Assurance approvals and manage all audits for these arrangements
Team Management
  • Participate constructively with management team to ensure QA compliance
  • Work with operation teams to provide effective quality management support
Occupational Health and Safety
  • Perform secretarial duties for the organisationís WHSEQ (Work, Health, Safety, Environment & Quality) committee including minutes of meetings
  • Assist in policy and procedure development and review
  • Monitoring of Vehicle Pre-op checks, First Aid & Fire Equipment registers
  • Annual review of Emergency Map & Procedures
  • Manage the Hazardous Substances register (including Material Safety Data Sheets)
  • Comply with all Company and statutory WHSEQ policies
  • Comply with and promote all Company and statutory WHSEQ policies, standards and procedures
  • Lead by example to instigate and follow safe work practices; promote the physical security of our people and assets

Personal Specifications:
Qualifications
  • HACCP trained
  • Safety and Quality Food Industry (SQF) accredited (desirable)
