Floricultura Brasil officially opened
Two years ago, the construction of Floricultura Brasil took off, and last Friday, after Hortitec in Holambra, glasses were raised to the opening of this new greenhouse.
It is the third location of Floricultura that is based outside the Netherlands, next to Floricultura Spacific in Salinas, USA and Futura Bioplants in Pune, India. Around 80 guests, among which clients from Brazil, Argentina and suppliers who were involved in the project in Brazil and the Netherlands, were present.
"After renting greenhouses for years, we can now focus more on creating our own identity, professionalization, quality and flexibility", says Marco Heijnen, who managed the project out of the Netherlands.
Floricultura Brasil has a size of 4,000 square meters, of which 1,000 workspace and 3,000 cultivation area. The entire greenhouse is equipped with an Erfgoed cultivation floor, a Logiqs container system and a Priva climate computer. In the greenhouse, the young plants that are supplied from the Netherlands can acclimatize, before they will be delivered to the clients (primarily in Brazil).
The company has been built in the horticultural area of Brazil at a two-hour drive from São Paulo. The area is home to around 150 horticultural companies, mostly ornamental growers.
Jacques van der Weijden opened the greenhouse. He worked at Floricultura for years and is a pioneer in the area of orchids in Brazil.
After the opening, a guided tour through the greenhouse was organized, followed by a Brazilian barbecue and drinks.
