The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is to host “the 12th Asia Pacific Orchid Conference” at IMPACT Forum, Muang Thong Thani next year in an effort to show off Thailand's high caliber in orchid production, according to Director-General of the Agriculture Department Anan Suwannarat.

The conference will be held from 19-27 March 2016 under the theme "Orchids and Human Beings”. Around 45,000 participants who are both Thai and foreign orchid suppliers are expected to join the event. It will be the most spectacular exhibition of orchids Thailand will organize in 20 years.

Meanwhile, Senior Adviser to the ministry Panpimon Chunyanuwat says the conference mainly aims to develop the technical aspect of the orchid industry and will be a venue for Thailand to demonstrate diversified orchid species and its sustainable efforts to conserve biodiversity of orchids.

At present, orchids are grown in 20,000 rai of land by 3,000 producers in Thailand. The big scale of the country’s orchid industry proves that orchids are economic botanic plants of Thailand. - See more at:
