Agriculture and Irrigation Minister OP Dhankar:

"India: "Floriculture has better prospects in Jhajjar district"

Haryana government is preparing a special scheme to provide water to every field by bringing canal water through community ponds to adjoining fields.

Under the initial phase of the scheme, a pilot project would be implemented in each of the 21 districts of the state, Agriculture and Irrigation Minister OP Dhankar said here on Thursday.

He said that floriculture has better prospects in Jhajjar district.

Therefore, Centre of Excellence for Flowers could be set up here. The demand of flowers has been increasing considerably in the world and there has never been any issue on the increasing prices of flowers, he said.

Therefore, farmers should adopt floriculture alongwith farming of traditional crops, he said.

"If farmers of this area would take interest in floriculture, he would make efforts to set up big market of flowers in areas adjoining borders of Gurgaon," he said.
