Ireland: Greenisland Flowers invested £100k on market development
Greenisland Flowers, which is in Portadown even though it sounds like it should be in Co Antrim, sells cut flowers to retailers in the UK and Republic. It has taken on two new technicians and also bought new processing equipment.
Shane Donnelly, the firm's managing director, said it had also improved its processing activities.
He said a new bunching line had improved the flow of work, adding: "We aim to develop sales of new products with higher margins, such as summer field-cut flowers, winter tulips and all year round Oriental lilies, to boost our revenue and profits."
Mr Donnelly said staff travel for research to the Netherlands to learn more about cut flower growing and processing.
Invest NI food director John Hood said: "This investment is an important decision by the company, which is focused on ramping up its throughput to meet increasing customer demand."
