Canada: Large variety of cut flowers being grown at Waymar Flowers

Waymar Flowers Ltd started out in west St.Catharines in 1987 by Henk and Ineke Vandewetering. At that time they grew summer cut flowers out in the field. But it was not until 1990 that they built their first greenhouses and started growing cut flowers year round.

In 1995 they moved to a new, and their current location in Vineland, further expanding the business to about 80,000 sqft of greenhouses. Henk's son Fred and his wife Linda now run the operation with several great full and part time employees from the local community. Over the years many types of cut flowers have been grown at Waymar including sunflower, lisianthus, iris, anemone, phlox, agepanthus, corn flower, snaps, limonium, and larkspur. Current greenhouse crops grown in summer are cut delphinium, cut dahlia and allium. In winter they produce cut orchids and ranunculus.

Waymar's products are picked up by local wholesale distributors who ship to markets such as Toronto, New York, Montreal, as well as Ontario local flower shops. Shipments also go to OFG all throughout the year.
