Belgium: 120,000 begonias color the Leuven Market

The 120,000 begonias were displayed at the market in Leuven, Belgium until Monday evening the 7th of September. This was a donation from Boerenbond to celebrate Leuvens 125th anniversary.

This design was from architect Marc Schautteet and it symbolized the eight departments of Boerenbond: agriculture, fruit, vegetables, dairy, poultry, pigs, beef and calves and floriculture. In the middle you can see the logo of Boerenbond and the anniversary year. The organization consists of begonia growers, AVBS - the ornamental plants and green federation of Boerenbond, with logistical support from the city of Leuven.

The video above is a time-lapse of the construction of the flower carpet: an impressive sight!
