The Schevening florist Ton Verzijl and flower arranger Aislinn de Ronde personally selected the chrysanthemums for the flower decorations in the Knights' Hall from the chrysanthemum nursery Jan van Ruyven in Maasdijk on Thursday, 10 September 2015.
Next Tuesday, the flowers will be standing right next to the throne, at the entrance and along the balustrade of the hall. The choice of chrysanthemum as the primary flower and the colour combination were decided by the Dutch Parliament. This year, the colours selected are cream and white with accents of bronze.
3,000 chrysanthemums
In total, 3,000 blooms from different chrysanthemum varieties will be incorporated in the royal decorations. At the end of the ceremony, the flowers will be donated to various retirement and nursing homes in The Hague area.
This is the third year in a row that Verzijl has supplied the flower decorations in the Knights' Hall. The action was initiated by JustChrys, the promotion club of all chrysanthemum growers.
