India: 150,000 lakh roses to bloom at Dasara expo

Visitors to the Dasara flower show will get to see in flowers the architectural wonder of Hampi's stone chariot.

Mysuru District Horticulture Society will recreate Hampi's world-famous relic with 150,000 roses for the Dasara flower show exhibition. Starting October 14, the show will be held for 12 days at Nishad Bagh aka Kuppanna Park. Dasara deputy special officer P A Gopal, who is also Mysuru ZP CEO, on Thursday said that the 26-ft tall replica of the chariot will measure 16 feet x 13 feet. To ensure that it stays fresh, 150,000 roses will be replaced after five days, he told reporters.

The authorities will also display through flowers the life and achievements of former President Abdul Kalam. Artists will use varieties of grains weighing 80kg for this. The entrance to the show will sport a 10 feet x 16 feet replica of a peacock, India's national bird.
