India: Colourful anthurium festival to promote tourism, encourage anthurium cultivation in Mizoram

A three-day Anthurium Festival began at Lengpui, with a riot of colours.

Gracing the cultural extravaganza as chief guest, Governor Lt Gen (rtd) Nirbhay Sharma said the colourful Mizo traditional attire, the rich culture, beautiful music and dances can attract huge numbers of tourists from across the world that would boost the state’s economy.

“The Mizos should continue their hospitable attitude towards people from the outside to attract tourists,” he added.

Anthurium Festival is a 3 day-long event organized every year in September/October by the Mizoram government with an aim to promote tourism and also encourage anthurium cultivation in Mizoram.
