Netherlands: Exchanging know-how to prevent the introduction of the virus in lilies
Exchanging know-how
Damage may reach astronomical proportions and occurs at the forcery. This can only be prevented by using virus free batches. This is a task for the nursery in preventing the introduction and the spreading of the virus. AgriVizier in cooperation with Flynth, WUR, DLV Plant and DLV Bouw organised a meeting to exchange know-how. PLAMV is a huge problem in the nurseries; spreading can not be prevented by disinfection, sample results are unpredictable and the economic losses are great. Everyone openly and honestly talked with each other about the situation based on the shared belief that it is the only way to face PLAMV. Many of the questions amongst the lily growers could be answered right away by Casper Slootweg (WUR) and Hans Kok (DLV Plant). For finding the ‘best practise’ the available research data will be taken into account. Great importance will be attached to the hygiene of the companies.
AgriVizier
In the project AgriVizier both education, research and opinion work extensively on questions of entrepreneurs in terms of innovation in the Agribusiness. Under the flag of AgriVizier they work on several subprojects. One of those is the subproject 'backgrounds and management of PLAMV’.
The project AgriVizier is made possible in part by European funding for Regional development of the European Union with the aim of developing agribusiness in North Holland further.
