Dutch flowers and plants: 3% increase in exports

The export of Dutch flowers and plants increased this year, despite Russia decreasing their imports. According to the statistics of the wholesale trade in flowers and plants (VGB), the total value for 2015, so far, is 4.7bn euro, a 3% increase compared to 2014.

The exports to Russia decreased the most; minus 27 percent, followed by Austria; minus 16 percent. Also exports to Germany fell, by 4 percent at the end of October, while there was an increase in exports during the same period last year.

The decrease in exports was compensated by the increased exports to the UK, the turnover increased by 15 percent. Also Belgium and Sweden imported more flowers than previous years.
