UK: Event on manipulating light for horticulture

Light is fundamental to the production of all crops and until recent years growers have largely had to use what they are given. This has been either light received from the sun, and where this is insufficient e.g. in the UK winter, from lights manufactured for other uses and adapted for plants. The introduction of methods to change this, including coatings and claddings for structures that alter the spectral composition and/or distribution of incoming light, or new lighting technology such as LEDs, has therefore generated significant grower interest and also raised many new questions.

Following on from our successful ‘Focus on lighting’ event in 2012, this event is designed to update growers and technical representatives on recent developments emerging from AHDB funded and wider international developments in this area. The event will also include trade stands with an open invitation to relevant suppliers to attend and discuss opportunities with delegates. For further information and to express an interest in purchasing a trade stand, please contact hort.events@ahdb.org.uk

Delegates for this event are also invited to register for the British Protected Ornamentals Association Spring Conference, Dinner & AGM which will be taking place at Stratford Manor Hotel from 4pm on 19th January (approximately a 23 minute drive from Stoneleigh Park). All are welcome to attend the dinner in the evening and the meeting will continue with the Technical Seminar on Wednesday 20th January, also at Stratford Manor.
