Grow Group opened new TTA sorting line

Grow Group, an internationally operating nursery for young plants, has opened a new TTA sorting line.

To achieve effective results at the crafting process, it is important that the size and plant structure of the rootstock and graft form a coherent framework. Careful, accurate and consistent selection of the reproductive material is crucial. During manual selection differences quickly arise as a result of the many different people who look at the plants.

The currently known sorting machines, which have a carrier moving the plant material twice past a camera, led to damaged plant material. In addition these machines are relatively costly, difficult to operate and have high maintenance costs.

The new machine with the name FlexSorter clears up a few disadvantages in the process. The plant will be transferred only once, which makes the machine easy to control and reliable. During the transfer multiple pictures are taken of the plants. Also the stem diameter will be considered for evaluation. The result is a high capacity, well sorted plant material and practically no damage.

Since carriers are no longer needed for the sorting process, the conditions for an on-board disinfection and cleaning system to prevent transfer of bacteria and germs, have been created. This is an important benefit for the Grow Group.

Although the amount of the investment is unknown, TTA remarks that the FlexSorter is on the market for an attractive price. The maintenance costs of the FlexSorter are substantially lower than the costs of traditional sorting lines which use carriers and discs.

Hans Grootscholten, CEO of Grow Group: "With the FlexSorter we took a considerable step forward to provide greater quality and to achieve perfection. The on-board disinfection system offers considerable benefits in terms of operational reliability."
Bram Verschoor, commercial director of TTA: "We expect that the FlexSorter will be the new standard in horticulture."
