Groene Tint nursery

"Netherlands: "We went from chrysants to potted anthuriums"

They were class mates in high school and are now co-owners of a contemporary potted anthurium nursery. Stefan Groenewegen and Richard van der Salm offer a wide product range from their 7 acre sized nursery based in Zeeland (NL); the Groene Tint.

The Groene Tint nursery was originally founded by Stefan’s father in the Westland. However, 40 years and a big move later, Stefan and Richard now run the show in this business. “We wanted another challenge back in 2007 and went from growing chrysants to potted anthuriums,” says Richard. It’s the combination of quality, reliability, service and a good range, which Groene Tint stands for.

Their range includes 15 different varieties in pot size 10.5, 12 and 14cm. The plants get everything they need in this automated nursery. “Sorting machines, mobile tables*, lighting and climate control; everything is available on demand for an optimal end product.” The nursery is specifically designed to hold one variety per mobile table. This way it’s easier to tune it to specific customer requests. “We aim for beautiful plants full of flowers!”

*Anthurium plants are placed on mobile tables during their growing process. These tables can be moved to different locations for different purposes. Naturally, this whole process is automated.
