US: World Floral Exposition returns to California

California Association of Flower Growers & Shippers (CalFlowers) is thrilled that World Floral Exposition is returning to California in 2016. Last year’s exposition, the first time it was held in California, was a great success for our members and many of their customers. We expect another strong showing of growers and suppliers this year. In fact, with six weeks until this year’s show opens, reservations in our pavilion are running at 150% of last year’s show, as measured by reserved floor space. As with last year’s show, we expect there to be more flowers on exhibit that are grown in California than from any other growing-country.

That’s quite a bold statement – more California-grown flowers on exhibit than from any other country. As of this writing the CalFlowers sponsored pavilion has commitments from 17 California growers exhibiting in more than 3,400 sq.ft. Together these growers grow and ship more than 275 varieties of commercial cut flowers – with many varieties not available from other growing regions. In the next six weeks those numbers will only increase.

While the California Pavilion will feature an impressive collection of cut flowers grown in the state, it will also include many other product and service provider members critical to supporting a rich floral industry. These service providers include shippers, freight forwarders, hard goods suppliers and related products suppliers.

Visitors to the CalFlowers Pavilion will also meet some of the other California floral associations and learn how they contribute to a robust floral industry in California. The California State Floral Association will provide a number of the state’s leading floral designers demonstrating, along with award-winning Dutch designers, how they incorporate California flower varieties in some truly impressive arrangements. The San Diego Plant and Flower Association will be present in their own booth; the California Protea Association will also have a presence.

California-based growers currently provide 80 percent of the U.S. cut flower production and also produce a number of potted plant products, greens and succulents.

Attendees can view new flower varieties, talk to growers about their varied offerings and meet shippers / customers and other service providers. For more information on, go to http://www.cafgs.org/world-floral-expo-2016.

CalFlowers is a strong association with 593 members, nearly 400 of which are Associate Members in 46 states outside of California. CalFlowers’ mission is to strengthen member businesses through logistics, education and promotion to grow the use and enjoyment of cut flowers.
