Exclusive rose makes Kenyan school possible
Customers of the florists clocks in Naaldwijk and Eelde, the Netherlands, were on a study trip to Kenya from 10 to January 18, 2016 under the guidance of Arie Bezemer and Tom Stellingwerf from Royal FloraHolland. Royal FloraHolland facilitated the trip because contact between customers and international growers is important.
During the trip the florists discovered a very special cultivar: Rose Arancio. A strong rose with hard petals and a striking bright orange color. The florists saw opportunities for their flower shop but also wanted to do something for Kenya.
One of the highlights was a visit to Panocal, a rose grower 400 km above Nairobi and a supplier of the florist clocks in Naaldwijk and Eelde. Panocal is very happy with sales and was honored that the florists took the trouble to make this trip. A visit to the local school was planned besides the visit to Panocal. Children of Panocal employees get the chance to have an education here, a luxury in Kenya.
Spectacular introduction
Rose Arancio is being introduced at the florists clocks and export clock in Naaldwijk in a spectacular way. Panocal owner Paul Wekesa wants to make the total revenue of the first Arancio sale at the Royal FloraHolland clocks available for a new elementary school near the company.
At the florists clock in Naaldwijk a client will relate his experiences in Kenya prior to the auction. At the florists clock in Eelde Paul Wekesa will be present to elaborate on the initiative himself. Florists clock customer Frits Jilderda: "A great initiative that we as florist clocks customers should pick up on."
