US: Lan Cargo delivers more than 200 million Valentine's Day flowers

To meet the demand for Valentine's Day flowers, Lan Cargo transports more than 200 million stems, which is equivalent to the entire female population of the United States, reaching 160 million women.

Red roses are the most in demand flower for Valentine’s Day – more than 60 percent - tripling its production this season. They are followed by pompoms, chrysanthemums and carnations.

While most flower exports come from Colombia and Ecuador, other South American countries — including Peru, Costa Rica and Guatemala — also produce this product in smaller quantities, which are also exported worldwide during Valentine’s Day season.

Main destinations include Miami, Los Angeles, Amsterdam.
