23 February, 2016 in Kenilworth:
UK: Ornamentals pest, disease and weed control conference
Optimising sustainable pest, disease and weed control programmes to minimise crop wastage or downgrading is one of the most important aspects of any ornamentals production plan. AHDB Horticulture funds a large number of research projects to both understand and control a wide range of problems, culminating recently in CP 124 ‘Managing Ornamental Plants Sustainably’ (the MOPS project). This conference covers best practice issues in the morning, followed by a summary of the practical benefits from a number of the trials within the MOPS project in the afternoon.
A range of technical posters will also be available to view at the refreshment breaks and over lunch. The posters summarise the outcome of other AHDB Horticulture funded projects beyond the MOPS project and a number of the authors will be available for further discussion during the event:
Dealing with disease resistance and controlling impatiens downy mildew (Phil Jennings, Fera)
Weed control measures for container and field-grown crops (John Atwood, ADAS)
Managing leaf and bud nematode (Idowu Rotifa, SRUC)
