Valentine's Day in remarkable social media messages

Last Sunday was Valentine's Day. In many parts of the world, especially in Europe and the US, this day is predominantly celebrated with flowers. It was also a hot topic on social media. People posted and shared remarkable, funny and emotional messages. Below we've listed some of them:

High school senior buys flowers for the all girls at his school



High school senior, Hayden Godfrey bought flowers for all the 834 girls at his school. In order to do this, he saved money for 1,5 years. He worked as a cook in McDonalds, he was a dishwasher at a Mexican restaurant, and he has been bagging groceries at a local store. He posted his stunt on Facebook and afterwards, it went viral. Not only for love birds


As a sign of esteem, the crew of the Dutch ANWB-emergency helicopter received Valentine's bouquets on Friday. These flowers were offered by Fleurop. Fleurop-director Jeroen de Zwart: "Valentine's Day in the Netherlands is not only about passionate love. Increasingly more often people show their gratitude or put other people in the spotlight on 14 February. Flowers are the ultimate gift,” Fleurop.

25,000 artificial roses in Hong Kong



In Hong Kong, China, a public park received a make-over with 25,000 artificial roses with LED lights. In this way, this piece of art combines the Western Valentine's Day and the Asian Lantern Festival, a tradition that marks the end of the Chinese New Year's party (click here for the video)

Florist robbed

Elderly receive orchids from students



A group of Dutch students came up with a nice Valentine's Day action for elderly people. They visited two nursing homes. The elderly people were given free orchids to give to each other.
