US (CA): Meet the CCGGA Board of Directors

Ulf Schnack grew up in a greenhouse. His grandfather, his father and Ulf had their own greenhouses. Ulf owned a greenhouse business in Germany where he grew all different types of pot plants in production. He has grown hundreds of thousands of his favorite crop, Orchids. He specialized in mostly Phalaenopsis and Paphiopedilum.
Over 15 years Ulf vacationed in the USA and traveled through many States. In 2010, he found a job at Ball Flora Plant and moved to California.

Jordan Marcellus is the Director of Propagation for the Specialty Crops department at Greenheart Farms, a wholesale transplant nursery located on the Arroyo Grande mesa which produces upwards of one billion plants per year. The Specialty Crops department is responsible for producing a wide range of crops: from strawberries and raspberries to native restoration plants. Jordan has been with Greenheart Farms for just over one year now. Prior to that, he was the lead lab technician at the Phillips 66 oil refinery, just down the road from Greenheart.

His position at Greenheart challenges him with a wide breadth of responsibilities including growing, pest control, product trialing, sales/customer relations, leadership training, and administrative duties. Jordan was also recently appointed the Vice President of the CCGGA. He has an affinity for Integrated Pest Management and biological control, utilizing natural predators and beneficial organisms to prevent and control plant pests while reducing or eliminating the use of synthetic chemicals. Jordan is also driven by a personal mission to put as many plants into the ground as he possibly can in his lifetime, a dream that Greenheart is making a reality every day.
