US (CA): New, local hybridized rose on display in Bakersfield

A new, compact, red informal floribunda-type rose has been created in Bakersfield. It was bred by local hybridizer Dr. Jim Sproul from a cross of Pearl Sanford and X Thrive. Both of the parents are seedlings of his. Over the years, Jim has donated several roses to fundraisers to raise money for nonprofit organizations.

This new rose was donated and the family that won the bid in an auction at a fundraiser for Children to Love (an international ministry for orphans) got to name the rose. The rose was evaluated for five years by a commercial rose grower for possible introduction. They almost introduced it, but in the end decided not to.
